The Thorowgood T9 Compact GP Saddle has been specifically designed to address one of the most common fitting challenges faced by riders and saddle fitters alike: accommodating riders with longer legs on a pony or compact horse without resorting to a saddle that is too long for the horse's back.
Many taller teenagers quickly outgrow the flap length of their pony saddle long before they outgrow the pony itself. Likewise, many petite adults riding native breeds, cobs and compact sport horses need a smaller seat size but still require sufficient flap length to comfortably support a longer thigh.
The T9 Compact solves this problem by combining a compact seat and shortened panel with a more forward-cut flap, allowing the rider to maintain a correct leg position while ensuring the saddle remains within the horse's natural weight-bearing area.
A saddle that extends beyond the 18th thoracic vertebra (the last rib) places weight onto unsupported soft tissues, which is why panel length is every bit as important as seat size.
