Sprenger Stainless Steel Long Shank Pelham offers an increased leverage action when the bottom rein ring is used while the main fixing ring is the primary rein for control purposes. Horses that tend to be strong or eager to go forward will be easier to control with the additional use of the bottom rein along side the primary rein to keep the horse on the bridle and accepting your hand, especially good for horses that go with a higher head carriage the bottom rein will act on the poll through the bridle with a lowering effect. This bit is often used with one rein with bit roundings to attach the primary rein so that the rein pressure is split between top and bottom fixing ring or with two reins used in conjunction applying more or less pressure through the riders hand to either top (primary rein) or bottom rein on each side as the rider adjusts for the behaviour of the horse in its work.
- Offers more control with strong and powerful horses.
- Enables precise and effective rein aids due to acting on tongue, poll and lower jaw.
- Curb chain should come into play at a maximum angle of 45° to limit the poll pressure.
- The leverage effect on the poll can be varied by different rein options.
- Often used in combination with bit converters or with 2 reins.
- Use of a curb chain guard is recommended to protect the sensitive lower jaw bone.

Material: Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is an alloy of iron, chrome and nickel and has a high breaking strength. It is neutral in taste, has no saliva activating properties and therefore does not increase the mouthing activity of a horse. All Sprenger horse and pony bits are made from high grade stainless steel to fulfil the highest quality standards.
