Sports horses are bathed regularly to keep them clean and sweat free and so due to the amount of body coverage they can become cold very quickly if they are not dried off.
The sweat scrapper is actually better described as a water scrapper for horses. Used for removing excess water from the horses skin after bathing to get them clean and dry more quickly.
