Precision, Balance and Unrivalled Close Contact
The Albion Kontinuum Mono Flap Jump Saddle represents the latest evolution in Albion jumping saddle design, combining refined rider ergonomics with one of Albion's most versatile fitting platforms to date. Developed for competitive riders seeking exceptional balance, close contact and freedom of movement, the Kontinuum Mono Flap has been engineered to enhance communication between horse and rider while accommodating the changing conformation of today's modern sport horses.
Every element of the Kontinuum has been carefully refined to improve comfort, stability and performance, delivering a saddle that inspires confidence whether training at home, tackling technical show jumping courses or competing in eventing.
The Advantage of a Mono Flap
The mono flap construction removes the additional leather layer found on a traditional dual flap saddle, allowing the rider's leg to sit closer to the horse for a more direct and responsive feel.
The reduced bulk beneath the rider's leg allows for exceptionally refined leg aids, creating a closer connection between horse and rider. With less material separating the rider from the horse, subtle changes in leg position can be communicated with greater precision, encouraging quicker responses and a more harmonious partnership.
Combined with Albion's redesigned seat profile, the semi-deep soft seat encourages the rider's pelvis to sit naturally in a balanced position, promoting improved alignment through the hip, knee and heel. This balanced position allows the rider to maintain stability throughout the approach, take-off and landing while remaining free to move with the horse over the fence.
The result is a secure yet athletic riding position that supports effective communication without restricting movement.
Engineered for the Modern Sport Horse
The Kontinuum Mono Flap has been designed around the changing conformation of today's performance horses.
Its refined short panel provides a generous weight-bearing surface while accommodating horses with shorter backs, helping distribute pressure evenly without extending beyond the horse's optimal weight-bearing area.
The carefully contoured panel profile promotes close, consistent contact while accommodating a wider variety of back shapes. Albion's pure wool flocked, felt-lined panels allow a qualified saddle fitter to make fine adjustments throughout the horse's working life, ensuring the saddle continues to perform as musculature, fitness and condition evolve.
To maximise fitting versatility, the Kontinuum is available with three head shape options:
-
V Head – Suitable for horses with a more defined wither and narrower shoulder profile.
-
U Head – Designed for horses with a broader wither and more rounded ribcage.
-
XU Head – Developed for wider sport horses requiring increased width through the front arch while maintaining stability and wither clearance.
Combined with a choice of Curved or Flat tree profiles, the Kontinuum offers one of Albion's most adaptable fitting systems for the modern competition horse.
Premium Construction
Every Albion Kontinuum Mono Flap Jump Saddle is handcrafted in England using carefully selected premium leathers, combining traditional British saddle-making with advanced performance design.
The saddle is available in a choice of Unwrapped, Unwrapped Luxe, Wrapped and Wrapped Luxe leather finishes, allowing riders to select the level of durability, suppleness and grip that best suits their riding style.
The Unwrapped and Unwrapped Luxe finishes offer the traditional feel of premium full-grain leather, providing exceptional durability while developing additional character and softness through regular use and careful conditioning.
For riders seeking enhanced feel from the outset, the Wrapped finish features premium calf leather wrapped over the saddle flap, delivering a softer feel beneath the leg with increased grip. Fully pre-conditioned by Albion, it is ready to ride immediately.
The Wrapped Luxe finish represents Albion's most luxurious leather option. Supplied unconditioned with a distinctive fibrous texture, it should be prepared using Albion Luxury Leather Balm before its first use. Once conditioned, the leather develops an exceptionally supple, tactile finish with outstanding grip, complementing the close-contact characteristics of the mono flap design.
Regardless of the leather finish selected, every Kontinuum Mono Flap retains the same proven tree, panel design and fitting options. The leather choice influences rider feel and grip while maintaining identical fit and comfort for the horse.
A soft seat comes fitted as standard, while the narrow twist promotes a natural leg position and the fixed Kontinuum knee block provides secure, consistent support without restricting rider movement.
