A curb chain needs a curb guard and this is great for sensitive horses and to prevent rubbing.
It protects the horse from the metal curb chain and helps to reduce the impact it has on the skin that sits over very little flesh covering the jaw bone. That does not render it ineffective just more comfortable.
To fit wind the curb chain flat and thread your curb chain through the loops on the curb chain guard, and then attach as normal.
