The John Whitaker web reins are based on the continental rein design that has leather bands along the web length to provide additional grip and to also allow for the rider to gauge each reins position under ridden conditions.
They provide excellent grip in wet conditions reducing the amount of hand grip required which allows a softening of the hand contact.
