The Collegiate Bit Roundings are designed to attach to the rings on a Pelham bit to allow the use of a single rein so that the contact is held between the main ring and the shank ring. This means that action of the bit is split between each leverage point but the rider only has one rein to think about as opposed to controlling two reins in each hand.
